How Our Suit Hire Fitting Process Works at Salters

If you’ve never hired a suit before, you might not be sure what to expect when you come in. At Salters in Rugby, we provide suit hire for customers across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, and beyond, covering weddings, proms, black tie dinners, and everything in between. The process is straightforward, but knowing what’s involved helps you get the most out of your appointment and makes sure everything is right well before the big day.

Here’s exactly what happens when you book a fitting at Salters.

Book your appointment

We’re appointment only, so the first step is getting in touch to arrange a time that works for you. We’d always recommend booking at least six months to a year before your occasion for that first appointment, and for busy periods like wedding season and prom suit hire, sooner is better. The earlier you come in, the more choice you have on styles, colours, and accessories, and the more time we have to make sure everything is exactly right. Use the booking form at the top of our website to book your fitting.

Come in and talk to us

When you arrive, we’ll start by finding out a bit about the occasion. Where are you going, what’s the dress code, is there a colour scheme to work around, are you part of a group? All of that shapes what we recommend.

If you already have something in mind, great. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s fine too. We’ve been doing this long enough to know what works, and we’ll steer you in the right direction without making it complicated.

Getting measured

Once we know what we’re working towards, we’ll take your measurements properly to ensure you get a suit that is the right fit for you. Chest, waist, hips, inseam: everything we need to find the right fit rather than the nearest approximation. Off-the-peg sizing varies enormously between manufacturers, so measuring properly in person is the only way to be confident the suit will sit right on the day.

Trying on the suit

With many suits in stock, you’ll try on the actual suit nearer to the occasion, not a sample or a similar style. This is one of the things that sets us apart from ordering online: you can see and feel exactly what you’re hiring, make sure the fit is right, and spot anything that needs attention before you leave.

Sorting the accessories

A suit is only part of the look. Once the jacket and trousers are right, we’ll work through the accessories: shirt, tie or bow tie, waistcoat, pocket square, cufflinks, and shoes. If you’re part of a group, we’ll make sure everyone coordinates properly without looking identical.

If you’re bringing your own accessories, bring them to the fitting so we can check they work with the suit. It’s much easier to sort any clashes at this stage than on the morning of the event.

Collection and return

We’ll confirm all the details and agree a collection date ahead of your occasion. When you collect, check everything over before you leave so we can resolve any issues on the spot. Return is straightforward once the event is done.

A note on groups

If you’re booking for a wedding party, prom group, or any other group hire, it’s worth getting everyone in as early as possible. We can accommodate groups but staggered appointments work better than everyone arriving at once, and early booking means everyone gets the same level of attention rather than a rush job at the end.

Ready to book?

Appointments fill up quickly, particularly around spring and summer. We’re based in Rugby town centre and regularly welcome customers from across Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, including Lutterworth, Daventry, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Northampton, and the surrounding villages. If you’re looking for suit hire in the area, get in touch as soon as you know your date, and we’ll get you sorted.
